“I like it when people look at my work and think “What the f*ck?”. The aim of most of my pieces is to create new crazy scenarios and ideas that just seem absurd and odd. I found myself creating and drawing from ideas stuck in my head and creating a narrative for them. 

In this piece I started with the aliens; I always find that UFOs are a repeating image in my work. I think I just really like the idea of escaping Earth, or maybe I’ve just watched too much x files. Originally, the aliens had illuminated a human jazz band, a drawing inspired by the track “Having a party” by Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. These then turned into skeletons from outer space. The huge shark was also always a dominant image in this piece, as sharks and dinosaurs are two animals that I have a massive respect for. I think that because they have been, or were part of, Earth for such a long time that they’ve got the highest chance of having met aliens, and have probably seen some weird sh*t in their lifetime. 

Although I think anything I create is up for dynamic interpretation, for me, this piece is about some shark summoning skeletons having a party, whilst being gate crashed by a dinosaur who got stuck at some traffic lights. It could be anything; I just don’t want people to take it too seriously. Life is short, so you shouldn’t get bogged down on the details.” 

Bettine

This shirt is Crion’s first step as a brand breaking out onto the fashion scene. When I first looked at Bettine’s work, I knew I had to work with her. Her crazy hectic art is just so unique and intriguing, particularly the vast differences in the imagery she uses. From a fashion point of view, I felt the bold CRION on the front of the shirt contrasts well with Bettine’s artistry, juxtaposing simple fashion with the chaos of ‘Alien Party’.  

As our first product and the materialization of my vision for Crion, ‘Alien Party’ has helped launch the brand into a new and exciting chapter. I want to thank Bettine and all of you reading this for supporting the Creative Generation, and I can’t wait to see where we can take this next.
